WE ARE PIONEERS OF PRIVATE MINING SECTOR IN KSA

IMPLEMENTING BEST PRACTICES IN MINING

AMAK has obtained approvals of all relevant governmental authorities and has started the exploration process to identify the locations of mineral deposits such as copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver, and nickel, etc. Drilling works are then carried out to obtain samples of minerals in order to analyze its quality. Diamond drilling works are also implemented to identify the quantity of orebodies. Initial data are then collected to calculate project estimates in line with international reporting standards such as: NI - 43101, JORC CODE.

LOW-COST & HIGH-GRADE PRODUCTION OF COPPER, ZINC, GOLD & SILVER

Al Masane Mine has an average feed grade of %0.8 Copper and %3.5 Zinc as the primary metal content. It has the lowest cash cost of copper & zinc thanks to the credits received from gold and silver by-products in the concentrates produced.

Moreover, the gold grade at the Guyan mine is at 2.35 grams per ton, with a process recovery of %93. Due to this high recovery rate, the Company ranks in the lower third quartile of the gold producers cost curve. As per the study, the Company's gold production cost will be less than 900$ per ounce during the mine lifecycle.

STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES

We have collaborated with renowned mining companies to provide goods and services, including Caterpillar UG Equipment (Zahid), Caterpillar Generators (Al Taaqa), PSC Group, Sandvik equipment, Metso-Outotec equipment, etc.

EXPLORATION AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

UNDERGROUND MINING

The orebodies of the two main mines (Saadah and Al Houra), are reached from a surface portal through a 700 meters long tunnel and are divided vertically into sublevels which are 15 to 25 meters apart and linked by spiral ramp systems. The multiple ore lenses are followed and developed tunnels on each level are 4.5 meters high and 4.5 meters wide and are made via special drilling and blasting processes. Ores and waste rock are loaded and hauled using a fleet of underground loaders and trucks. Ore is hauled to a surface stockpile, while waste rock is used to backfill depleted production stopes. The direction of the development tunnels is closely controlled by the Geology Department. Essential services for mining, such as electricity, water, ventilations and communications and drain water pumping systems are provided and distributed throughout the mine.

THE ORE PROCESSING

AMAK APPLIES SEVERAL STAGES TO RECOVER THE PRECIOUS AND SEMI-PRECIOUS METALS FROM THE CRUSHED ORE, WHICH ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Grinding / Flotation / Filtration / Leaching / Merrill-Crowe Process / SART Units Crushed ore from the jaw crusher is kept on a separate surface stockpile used to feed the semi-autogenous (SAG) mill to break the ore down to millimetre particles. These materials are then fed to a ball mill which uses steel balls thus reducing the rock size down to micron sizes.

This very fine ore is prepared using suitable chemicals to adjust for pH levels and to assist the formation of bubbles. The materials are fed to flotation cells to remove talc, copper, and zinc minerals respectively. Each flotation unit is sub-divided into: “rougher”, “cleaner” and “scavenger” sections which progressively remove particular minerals.

REAL VALUE CHAINS THAT HAVE REAL ECONOMIC IMPACT

Al Masane Al Kobra Mining Company operates across the Kingdom of Saudi Area, which have the potential to contain base and precious metals. The company activity is now focused in its four main stages of exploring, mining, processing and reclamation at several sites and projects in the southern areas in the Kingdom.

AMAK HAS SO FAR PROCESSED MORE THAN 5 MILLION TONS OF ORE SINCE ITS INCEPTION AND HAS EXCAVATED MORE THAN 40 KMS OF TUNNELS UNDERGROUND.

Its production and drilling capacity is increasing every year, by virtue of using the best available technologies and professional practices, and management of potential risks prior to occurrence. The company concentrates on a high level of community and geographical environmental protection and development and maintaining its peculiarities, utilizing world class social responsibility governance practices globally followed in this regard.

OUR MINES & THE MINING PROCESS

Al Masane Copper Zinc Mine

Al Masane Mine is at the centre of the AMAK Complex infrastructure and is located in Najran Province in the southwest of the Kingdom. At an elevation of over 1600 meters above sea level, it is 414 kms away from Jizan Port on the Red Sea, which is used as a point of discharge of copper and zinc concentrates.

AMAK is 640 kms away from Jeddah. The Complex is connected with an asphalt road leading to Najran and Abha. The camp was established in 2008 with construction works starting in 2010. Production of copper and zinc concentrates started in 2012.

GUYAN GOLD MINE

In line with the sustainable business development strategy, AMAK has constructed and commissioned Guyan Gold Mine, which is designed and built to produce up to 35,000 oz per year at full capacity. The open-pit mining started in late 2020 and the Process Plant was commissioned in early 2021. The first gold smelting from Guyan Gold Mine was done in January 2021.

Guyan is a high-grade open pit mining operation. The excavated ore from the open pit is crushed at the crusher near the pit before being trucked to the Process Plant. The Guyan Process Plant is established in the main AMAK Camp, which is 15 kilometres from the open pit. Guyan Process Plant has a throughput capacity of 400,000 tons per year. In the Process Plant, ore goes through grinding, gravity circuit, CIP, elution, smelting and filtering stages. At Guyan Gold Plant, AMAK produces gold bars (dore) and ships to refineries.

AMAK continues exploration works at concessions in the deeper and nearby levels of orebodies alike, relying on the data provided by satellites equipped with advanced technologies to carry on with the broadly promising pit development drilling opportunities at Al Masane, Guyan, Al Aqiq and other mineralization zones.

MOYEATH COPPER ZINC PROJECT

AMAK has initiated a new expansion project in 2019 to develop the Moyeath orebody. Moyeath is a massive sulphide mineralization with high zinc and silver grades, and significant amount of copper and gold, when compared to the Saadah and Al Houra orebodies. Metallurgical testwork was completed in 2020, and during 2021 a new processing plant is being designed to process this specific orebody. Consultants from South Africa and Australia are currently working to complete the detailed engineering of the proposed process plant, which will have a mill throughput capacity of 400,000 tons per year. Together with Moyeath Plant, total AMAK’s total base metal processing capacity will increase by %50 to 1.2 million tons per year, for an extended life of mine more than 10 years. With the scheduled commissioning of Moyeath Process Plant in 2023, AMAK’s zinc output is designed to increase by more than %80 and copper output by %50.
